In the Twinkling of an Eye
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ January 30th, 2020

On January 19th, 2019 I died not once, not twice, not three times but I died 4 times that morning! ...

... My wife Linda, Deacon Paul and music partner and I opened up playing Gospel music for the First Baptist Church of Quartzsite in Quartzsite, Arizona, which began a week long Evangelism gathering.

We started with ‘Glory Glory Glory’ then on our second song ‘All Glory Laud and Honor’ I made it through the first verse and picked out a lead on my ol guitar but all of a sudden I got real dizzy, dizzier than usual ha ha, and I went down. Linda got behind me and caught me and eased me down, hey I didn't drop my guitar either, and Paul, retired from the medical field, immediately started CPR.

Many asked if I ‘Saw the Light’ and yes I did but it wasn’t a light at the end of a tunnel I was here and then I was there. As Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians ‘In the Twinkling of an Eye’… well I am here to tell you that the word twinkling is too long of a duration in time of what it takes for God to bring you Home!

NIV I Corinthians 15:52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

The Lamb at the Center of the Throne
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ April 23rd, 2019

This was the first song I wrote after my "Heart Event" January 19th, 2019. Inspired very much by what I saw and experienced...

... at the Center of our Lives! You read, see, hear that Jesus is at the Right Hand Side of God, and Jesus most certainly is. But I have seen that Jesus is at what I call "LIVE CENTER" and is completely surrounded by the Protective Light of God!

We MUST Seek God's Kingdom, that land where Jesus rules. And not worry for tomorrow, trust in them, trust in their loving care. In the Words of Jesus He says...

NIV Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Best of Friends Ol' Jesus and Me
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ 1st Song

This is the first Gospel song that I ever wrote. This goes back a little ways in time and I can't find anywhere an exact date...

... And it was before I thought about dating my songs when I wrote the words down. I wrote this song sometime around 1994 or 95 while we was attending a Church in Kingman, Arizona.

I became part of the music ministry in that Church there along with a bass player and sometimes a drummer and keyboard player. The Preacher, Pastor Shultz could really belt out those Gospel Songs!

Playing so much Gospel music at that time and becoming more and more interested in and studying the Bible, the Minister there seen something in me that he tried his best to get into the Ministry even more and start preaching, well I said I can sing to 'em but I can't talk to 'em!

But I realized that God and Jesus Christ was most definitely the best friends I could ever have and that inspired the song. I felt deep in my heart that God and Christ was more than just dieties that they were in fact my best friends!

NIV John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

God Allows
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ March, 3rd, 2023

Just Recorded this song today Saturday March 4th, 2023 a really fun song to play and I just wrote the words yesterday ...

... When I got to think'n about an old song 'Momma Don't Allow' and I was inspired to use the tune for a Gospel song.

I had never used the 'soloist' function before, well that's a fib cuz every now and then when I create our Church songs I will use a little solo to kick a aong off with a turnaround but never used them in any lead parts I usually do the leads on guitar.

So I figger'd it would be a bit of a bore if I just kept sing'n 'God allows guitar pick'n 'round here' so I added Pedal Steel, Mandolin, Harmonica and created a Bass riff and I found out ol' Band in a Box works the solo's pretty slick.

NIV Psalms 95:1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

NIV Psalms 95:2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

We Will See Each Other Again
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ January 12th, 2023

I wrote this song recently with the inspiration of a very close friend, we go back a looooooooong ways, Don Jolly...

... when his wife, Terry, sent me letter telling of his passing and she said that he left from her arms and went into God's and that really touched me. I don't believe in death I believe we just shake off the dust and move on to bigger and better things! Don't we often wonder how our loved ones are doing and God through Jesus Christ WILL send the Comforter to let us know that they are safe in our Lord's arms.

Doesn't mean we won't be sad though Jesus tells us Blessed are those who mourn. Yes One day we will meet again, in the Kingdom of God my friend, from our arms to yours so God open the door, We will see each other again! And the sentiment in this song goes for "ALL" friends and family who have went home with God!

NIV Isaiah 66:22 “As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “so will your name and descendants endure.

Yes they are there waiting for us!

My Savior First of All
Words: Fanny J. Crosby ~ 1891 ~ © Public Domain

I did not write this great ol Gospel Song a gal named Frances "Fanny" J. Crosby  wrote this one at the age of 71...

... In response to a statement by a minister that it was a pity God did not give her sight. Blind for all of her life, Fanny Crosby, is considered by many the greatest hymn writer in the history of the Christian Church. I worked up the music in the past couple of days and recorded the song on March 7th, 2023 and while working on it I feel that I personally know ol Fanny!

There was a time when Fanny met Pastor John Sweney from New York, who was a hymn writer and composer of music. Fanny said to John, “Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition to my Creator, it would have been that I should be born blind?” John asked, “Why?” Fanny Crosby responded, “Because, when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior.”

John said, “Fanny, you have been blind all of your life. Since you have never seen anyone, when you get to Heaven, how will you know who Jesus is?” “That’s easy”, said Fanny. “I will just walk all over heaven and ask people if I may see their hands. When I see Jesus’ nail prints in His hands, I will know who He is.”

NET Psalms 17:15 As for me, because I am innocent I will see your face; when I awake you will reveal yourself to me.

Love of Love's
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ October 4th, 2022

I wrote this song in 2022 after Jerry and Judy Love had shook off the dust and went home to God...
... Jerry moved on first and I was called to officiate his memorial and on the day of Jerry's Memorial while pondering on a prayer for that night my ol ticker decided to give me a very serious heart attack. O' joy O' rapture what fun that was. Needless to say I missed Jerry's Memorial and a very good friend and congregation member drove me down to the emergency room. Only had to spend one night in the hospital and I came right out of it been good ever since.

Judy's Memorial... I made it to that one and performed this song on October 8th, 2022 at Judy's Memorial. I miss them both very much we have known them since around 1989 and they only lived a few doors down from us. I was inspired by their unconditional love they had for each other, every word I wrote rings true of their love!

O' I have felt the love of God, The love of our Savior; I have felt all the love from above...O' I have seen that love I felt, Right before my eyes; I have seen the love of Loves!

Roll'n in a World Full of Sin
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ April 8th, 2021

    I was a hum'n a song one day a song called "Roll'n in my Sweet Baby's Arms" and I got to think'n...
... "Hey bet'cha I could add some Gospel words to this ol song and that is just what I did! Kick'n it off with 'O the wages of sin, try'n to pull me in; I'm roll'n in a world full of sin!'

And ain't it the doggone truth, the ol dark side is out there, as the Bible says, like a roar'n lion to see what could be devoured. You know this world is so full of sin and absolutely evil people anymore.

Well I think that even the devil has been look'n at some of these evil doers and think'n dang I don't want 'em either they are worse than I ever was. Probably gonna take over my job.

NET I Pet 5:8 Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.

TGIF Today God is First
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ September 19th, 2018

I wrote this one with the thought that we should put ol' God first, put Jesus at the Center...

... And give God and Jesus Christ the Rah Rah Rah that they most certainly deserve! So many have turned away from God and I think God understands why they do, even though it isn't right I believe God and Christ can sympathize.

There are so many over zealous super critical Bible thumpers out there that have no clue what their mouth does to other people, or how they can hurt others by what they say. They certianly can see others 'sin' but have no sight of their own. We need to get back to God, cheer for God, LOVE GOD and JESUS CHRIST!

NIV James 1:26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

According to the Promise
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ March 31st, 2017

Back in 2016 my wife Linda and I went to England to visit some very close friends of ours Dave & Donna Shears...
... And we had the best times of our lives they are great friends and they showed us places all over England and Wales! I have always wanted to see Stone Henge and yes'sir they took us there too! Took us to London a couple of times and spent all day those couple of days seeing all kinds of things. Even walked across Abbey Road where the Beatles did their stroll across that street.

Had us a very inspirational moment at St. Paul's Cathedral lighting a candle and pray'n for a good friend that was in for surgery that very day... that surgery went perfectly! Spent a lot of time at the Canterbury Cathedral too, very beautiful and very interesting. We visited many old Churches, Cathedrals and Castles while there. So many sights to see we surely wished we could have spent a lot more time than our three weeks that we did spend with Dave & Donna.

After flying home somehow I ended up with a virus and was sicker than I had ever been in my life, I was down for close to six months, totally lost my voice and as it turns out it was the cause of my heart problems that led me to the heart event in 2019. Long story short Linda stood in for me at the Church and did a wonderful job so I surprised her by having her ordained as a Minister. I surprised her in Church and held a ceremony for her and I was looking for a song that would fit the occasion but couldn't so I wrote one and According to the Promise is it!

NET Galatians 3:29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.

NIV Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Do You Love Me Feed My Sheep
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ March 31st, 2017

The Good Shepherd, JESUS CHRIST, SON of the Living GOD most certainly inspired me to write this song it is to HIS Glory...
... Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him... I think Jesus asks us the same thing, maybe more often than we think and we should answer His question. The Number 3 in Hebrew has a very good definition and that is what I love about Hebrew words they have a definite defintion and so does numbers which will expand the thoughts the Hebrew writer tries to pass on to us. Of course my thoughts here come from the New Testament and Greek was used but if Aramaic, which Jesus spoke, was used this is my thoughts.

3 Defined: Seeds, trees, fruit. Revelation, Resurrection, gathering balance, equilibrium, pattern, counsel, witness, and strength. New Life, sprouting, resurrection, fruitfulness, words of life (counsel), Unity, and the Foundation.

Is this not the definition of Jesus? Certainly a Revelation and Resurrection! Balance, Counsel, Witness of God and Strength. New Life, "IF" we believe in Jesus we become born again to New Life, and that is eternal. And by and through the Love of Jesus Christ we have unity by the foundation the cornerstone!

Jesus gave a new commandment telling us, teaching us, admonishing us to love one another just as He has loved us. So we 'MUST' love Jesus we 'MUST' love one another! This is a true work of grace a true work of the mercy of Jesus Christ! Words of Jesus from the Diary of Maria Faustina: Sooner would heaven and earth turn into nothingness than would My mercy not embrace a trusting soul.”

NET Mark 14:72 Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

I Believe in God
Words & Music: Parson Tom Woodard ~ March 27th, 2023

I was inspired by listening to an ol song by Ralph Stanley and he vocally hit one note that sounded so good...
... Yessir it sounded so good that it immediately inspired my new song 'I Believe in God' in which I most certainly do!!! I have always believed in God, I believe in Jesus Christ going back as far as I can remember remembering. I believe in the Word of God and that Jesus Christ was on this earth delivering those immortal Words that inspired the faith in all humankind and still does to this day and will continue to inspire way on into the future... for an eternity.

We then, as requested by Jesus Himself, should take His Word, His Teachings, and speak them to the poor, the blind, the lame. PROCLAIM THAT GOOD NEWS and Proudly DO IT cuz Jesus tells us to! Preach it to every creature every man and woman too!

To Love one another, never leave out anyone, there is so many of the self-righteous that is so quick to judge and condemn others and not near enough that will take seriously the ‘New Command’ that Jesus commands… ‘Love one another’ and here is the Scripture and I quote…

NIV John 13:34 ‘A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’

Seems to me a very easy to understand commandment to listen very closely to. Jesus seems very sincere about it so why not lay into that one instead of being so self-righteous and judgmental. Believe in God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ it is beyond definition along with their Mercy and Grace! Believe in the Blood by God’s One and Only Son it is a wonderful gift. Our belief is a journey and when we truly believe our journey has just begun…Praise God!
