Donna May Dishman/Smith, 73, of rural Hoyt, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2009, at The Pines in Holton from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Donna May Dishman was born in Manhattan, toDonna May Dishman/Smith jpg Calvin and Ruth (Harrison) Dishman along with her twin sister LaViolette June (Vi) on May 30, 1936. She grew up in the Stockdale community and later Manhattan.

Donna married Clyde E. Smith, June 28, 1952, and they settled in St. George. They had 3 children: Leland, Linda, and Kipp. In addition, the house was always open to friends, family and anyone needing help. Children held a special place in Donna's heart and she always made sure that they were clean, well-fed, and learning God's word, she made it fun and shared her joy.

In her early years, Donna was active with the Bible Baptist Church in Wamego where she was a Sunday school teacher. While at Hoyt, she attended the Pottawatomie United Methodist Church at Mayetta.

Clyde preceded Donna in death, as did Leland, both in 1994, and her twin sister Vi in 2008. Donna is survived by her children: Linda and Tom Woodard of Oatman, AZ, Kipp and Pam Smith of St. George; grandchildren: Tam Smith, Khai Smith and Tammy (Chris) Fisher along with their mother Hong-Y; Jessica Smith and her mother Vicki; Dakota, Cheyenne and Bianca Smith and their mother Sylvia; Becky (Jax) Hilton, Erin (Mike) Lewis, Ida Smith, and Erica Smith; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Ashley Hilton, Aidan Smith, Kaylee, Hannah, Ethan and Noelle Lewis, Taralynn Smith and Dominick Fisher. She is survived by siblings: Mary Miller, Jerry Dishman, Calvin Dishman, all of Manhattan, and Marjo Schober of Renton, WA.

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Words: Joseph M. Scriven 1855 Music: Charles C. Converse 1868

Sang and performed for Mom by Linda and Parson Tom, Randy & Carrie Kennedy,
Gary Ramelot, John Henry (Jim) Loggins and Dale Smith.

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief’s to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

DEUT 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms:

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded, there will be no need for prayer
Rapture
(On August 2nd she now has been ‘caught up’ Isaiah 6 Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts ...Heaven and the whole earth is full of his glory.) praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Flowers donated by the Blake Family from Johnathan Bradley Blake and Kelly Nicole Barnes Wedding August 8th, 2009.
We deeply thank the Blake Family for their donation of the flowers and cake for our Memorial Services, they are and always will be dear friends and we consider them family!

In closing of our Memorial and Celebration of Mom I stated that I don't add 'death' in my vocabulary any longer and I bring that subject up often in my Sermons. I know that Mom has met with our Lord and Savior and that He has taken her by the hand and led her blameless before our Father. She has lived a life that has been created by God in which I know she was ever thankful and now has moved over to life eternal which is a Gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

We wonder why her complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy had to last so long and as I prepared for her mermorial services Sunday morning it came to me that by what Jesus tells us in the Book of John that "In my Father's house there are many mansions" He also tells us in the Book of John that "I go to prepare a place for you" so in conclusion there are some that are so good it just takes a little longer to prepare a place...Donna May, Mom, now resides in a wonderful mansion! Now I pray "May the Comfort from God lay upon the family of Donna May Dishman/Smith"... Parson Tom Woodard
